Our comprehensive range of dry lining services includes timber frame stud partitioning, plasterboarding, tape and jointing and wall and ceiling repairs. Dry lining is a construction technique that involves fixing plasterboard to walls and ceilings secured with drywall screws or adhesive, once the boards are in place they are taped and filled creating a smooth and even surface that is ready for decoration and negates the need to plaster the walls and ceilings. We are commited to delivering high quality workmanship and outstanding customer service for all of our dry lining services in Southampton.
Create an extra room, like a bedroom, en-suite, cloakroom or office with a timber stud partition wall, include doorways, electrics and lighting on the wall and build it to your own individual requirements. You can then insulate it to keep the warmth and noise in or out. Then simply dryline the wall and decorate it and you have a relatively cost-effective and useable space added to your home or business. Read more on stud partitions on our CARPENTRY page.
There are many variations of plasterboard varying in sheet size to sheet thickness. There are also different types of plasterboard depending on the type of job or building regulation required. Plasterboard come in standard square edge or tapered edge, or moisture resistant, acoustic and fire resistant options. Once we’ve built and constructed your new stud partition or plasterboarded your existing wall or ceiling with the relevant type of wallboard the wall is ready for tape and jointing.
Once all the plasterboarding is completed on your wall or ceiling, we tape up all the joints with jointing tape or corner tapes, and then we apply a joint compound filler, after the joint compound has fully dried usually around 24 hours depending on heat conditions we can sand back the filler to a smooth and even finish. This creates a seamless wall or ceiling with no joints. We repeat the process 2/3 times until the wall or ceiling is a perfectly flat and smooth surface. At this point, the ceiling or wall is now ready for decoration.
Sometimes a ceiling or wall can get damaged and require remedial work, this could be from leaks, damp, accidental damage or general wear and tear. In addition, settlement and decoration cracks may be starting to appear on your wall or ceiling. Perhaps you hung a shelf or picture that you have moved and want the fixing holes filled and repaired.
